Just the two of us ... for now!

In November Albie and I took a trip to London to visit our friend, Lisa. Good thing we were able to enjoy a wonderful trip together!! Shortly after returning, we learned that life was about to change ...

The Plus Sign

In mid-December, Albie and I found out we're having our first baby!!! It was a bit of a surprise, but a very welcome surprise! Albie's first response was that we "have to sell the house," but once the news settled in, he's become more and more comfortable with the idea of becoming a "daddy!"

Spreading the News

Since my family is known to drink at the holidays, we wanted to tell them over Christmas vacation. It wasn't long before Becky poured me a glass of wine and was checking my consumption. So, let's just say that Aunt Becky knew right away that something was cooking! We tried to get Madeline involved in the fun. Her shirt reads, "I am expecting a baby cousin."

Albie graciously vowed to drink my share of beer and wine for the next year. What a good hubby. Here's Uncle Nate toasting Albie's entrance into "Club Dad" and saying goodbye forever to Albie's faulted "5 Year Plan"

The 1st Trimester

Mama's been feeling so good that most days, I don't even feel prego. I had a few bouts of morning sickness and have had a few days of exhaustion (like today's 5 hour nap), but more often than not, I feel great. When I have been sick, Albie rubs my belly and tells the baby to "be nice to mommy, stop making her sick" (which I think is so sweet I instantly feel better.)

Expecting Lots of Play Dates

Another thing that adds to the fun we're having is all the family and friends who are expecting too! Check out this photo of Albie's family as they are hearing the news that Aunt Lori and Uncle Dan are having their 3rd baby (just 1 this time). Unbelievably, they are due on August 21, 2007, the day after us. Check out Grandma Dee Dee's face (and this was before she learned she will be rushing around between hospitals on 8/20 and then 8/21.)

Other mommies that I'm leaning on for support include (listed in the order of appearance) Dianna Angello due Feb 22, 2007; our cousin Carollee, due in April, 2007; Megan Correia, due in April, 2007; and Rosanna Cardone, due just a two weeks later on September 3rd.

Love at First Sight

Wow! To see the baby growing inside was so incredible! At 10 weeks, we had our first doctor's appointment and had an ultrasound to measure little "Vaughn or Ivaughna Guerra." (This is the baby's pre-name.) Every day, I have been taking fish oil supplements, which are suppossedly good for the baby's brain and muscle development. The doctor teased us that he wasn't sold on the research. Then, during the ultrasound, little (I)Vaughn(a) was moving around like crazy, waving it's arms and twisting it's body around. Dr. Bader laughed, saying that he was surprised at the amount of movement the baby was making and to "keep taking those fish oil supplements." (Oh no, it's only 2 months and I am already bragging about the baby!)

Belly Shots - Week 10

This is what they refer to as the "fat stage," where I am feeling thick around the middle, but not exactly showing yet. I'm secretly excited for maternity clothes and to look more pregnant, which I'm sure I will soon regret rushing into it.
